What are Lash Lifts?Lash lifts or eyelash lifts are similar to a perm for your natural eyelashes. This service curls your natural lashes from the base to the tip using a silicone pad and can be combined with a tint to give the appearance of darker lashes for lighter lash hair and a mascara appearance.
-
Is this service safe?Yes. A specifically shaped lifting pad is used to lift your natural lashes with products that are approved and safe for the eye and eyelash area. It is important to not have this service done at home and only done by a certified professional.
-
What is the maintenance like?Between lifts or after your initial service, there is very little maintenance! If you choose to, you can use nourishing oils or lash serums that are safe and recommended on eyelashes.
-
How long does this lash lift last?Depending on the thickness, length and quality of your eyelashes, the lift can last for 6-8 weeks. As your natural eyelashes shed and grow, it will cause the structure of the lift to grow out.
-
Do I need to prepare before my appointment? Before your eyelash extension appointment, try not to wear any kind of makeup, especially around the eye area. Please remove your contacts before arriving at your appointment. Do not curl your lashes or wear any mascara or strip lashes the day before your appointment. Wear comfortable clothing and try to shower/wash your hair as you need to stay away from contact with water or heat for 24 hours after your eyelash extensions service. Also avoid caffeine the day of the service as it causes the eyes to jitter or flutter.
-
What is the aftercare for lash lifts?24-48 hours after your appointment, you must avoid all contact with heat, water, and sweat and keep them dry and attempt to try not to sleep directly on your face as this can alter the shape & curl. Do not touch or rub them, do not apply makeup for the first 24 hours and afterwards, you may resume your regular activities.
-
How do I care/clean my lash lift?Gently use mild products and wait 24 hours to do this. You are given a spoolie/mascara wand at every appointment and it is advised that you brush once daily. You can wear mascara after 24 hours but it cannot be waterproof. The removal of waterproof mascara is much more rough and can cause damage to your lashes and their lift. Avoid using makeup wipes to rub your lashes as you can pull them from their base, and instead use eye safe makeup removers. Do not use eyelash curlers as it can damage and weaken your natural lashes.
-
How often can I schedule a lash lift? After a minimum of 4 weeks or after they have returned to their natural state, you can schedule another lash lift.
-
What is brow lamination?Brow Lamination is similar to a perming service designed specifically for eyebrows and involves fluffing the brow hair in an upward stroke pattern and setting them into place with brow specific solutions. Adding tint to your service is a great option to add depth, colour and fullness.
-
How long is this service? This service can take around 45 minutes-1.5 hours if tinting or shaping is included.
-
What shades of tint are there? The tint used at Venus Beauty Haus is colour matched specifically to the colour desired by the client and to their natural hair/skin tone. Tinting can last 7-10 days depending on proper aftercare and skin type and is safe for the eye and brow area.
-
What is the aftercare for my brow lamination? You should avoid all contact with heat, water and sweat for 24-48 hours after your service. Avoid using makeup products in and around the area for the same allotted time as well and do not touch the area. Try to limit spending long periods of time in direct sunlight as this will weaken your lamination and fade the tint (if tint was applied). Apply brow balm or something moisturizing such as castor oil or your favourite face oil that is safe in the brow area once daily (we recommend the morning) and comb the hairs into place with or without a brow gel and you’re ready for your day!
-
Is brow lamination for everyone? If you are looking to improve the overall look of your brows whether they are sparse, you are growing out your brows, you want a fluffier appearance, you are not ready to commit to cosmetic tattooing, you have unruly or coarse brow hair, this is perfect for you!
-
Is brow lamination damaging?Brow lamination does not cause damage to the brow hair. High quality products are used and you should only have brow lamination done by a certified eyebrow technician.
-
How long does brow lamination last? This procedure can last 6-8 weeks if proper care is taken.
-
How often should I come in for brow shaping?Everyone has a different hair growth cycle, therefore, it varies from person to person at around the 3-4 week mark. If you are growing out your hair and/or your brow technician has advised you to do so, we recommend waiting a little longer. Your appointment frequency should be based on preference and brow needs.
-
Is waxing painful?Pain is dependent on how thick your hair follicles are and how you react to pain. The thicker the hair, you may experience slightly more pain. If hairs are fine, pain may not be felt. Wax is applied to small areas at a time to ensure that pain is lessened. To reduce pain, please be advised that you should avoid tanning/coming in with a sunburn, and any kind of peels or skin treatments and inform your brow technician of any medications or products that could make your skin more sensitive. Women who undergo waxing during the week of their periods and the week prior may also feel more sensitivity to pain during this service.
-
How do I prepare for eyebrow threading?Hair needs to be at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. Caffeine and alcohol can make the skin more sensitive, try to avoid these prior to your threading service. Avoid tanning/coming in with a sunburn within 24 hours before or after this service.
-
Is there any aftercare for waxing and threading appointments?Try not to sweat, have any contact with water or any direct sunlight for the first 24 hours.
-
Microblading vs Microshading?Microblading is a semi permanent brow tattoo performed with a handheld tool using a feather-stroke technique to make the appearance of fuller eyebrows. It is a softer/more subtle cosmetic tattoo than other methods and is recommended for normal to dry skin candidates. Microshading is a semi permanent makeup technique where pigment is inserted into the skin using an electrical tool with needles which administers tiny, pin-like dots in a gradient pattern creating a powdered effect. Microblading uses manual blades to create hairlike strokes whereas microshading on the other hand uses an electric tool which resembles a tattoo gun. The pigments used are the same for both treatments but the application and the final look is different.
-
Am I a good candidate for micropigmentation? These procedures may not be right for you if: ⁃ Skin complications such as eczema, psoriasis, keratosis Polaris, dermatitis (constant flaking, itching) on or around the brow area. ⁃ Chronic conditions such as chronic acne or rosacea on or around the brow area. The nature of this type of skin causes easy bleeding and will not retain the colour. ⁃ Being on medications such as Accutane. Medications/products that contain Retin-A must discontinue usage for a month prior to your procedure. ⁃ You have an autoimmune disorder such as lupus. ⁃ You are prone to keloid scarring on the head or neck. ⁃ You are pregnant or breastfeeding. ⁃ You are sick with a cold or flu. ⁃ You are on blood thinners such as fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin, Advil, Motrin Ibuprofen, 3-7 days before your appointment. ⁃ Cholesterol and blood pressure medications. ⁃ If you are ever unsure of any of the above or have any other medical conditions such as being diabetic, undergoing chemotherapy, a compromised immune system, etc, please consult with your doctor or a medical physician.
-
How long is the appointment? This appointment can vary in time and last between 2-3 hours. During your appointment, we will walk you through the entire process to ensure we are on the same page. Most of the time is spent measuring and drawing a symmetrical set of brows and analyzing your perfect shape and colour. The actual procedure itself takes 30 minutes-1 hour.
-
Is the follow up appointment included? To make sure the brows heal perfectly, there will need to be a touch up appointment approximately 4-8 weeks apart on average depending on the recommended time you are told at your appointment. It is a necessity to have your touch up appointment as it provides the ability to correct any areas that have faded and allows for adjustments with shape and colour in order for your brows to have their final look. The follow up appointment within the 4-8 week time frame is included in the initial appointment pricing.
-
How long does it last?Due to this treatment being semi permanent, it will fade over time. Touch ups are recommended every 1-2 years to maintain their integrity. How often you may need a touch up depends on these factors: skin type (oily skin fades faster), pigment colour used (lighter pigments fade faster), sun exposure, use of products containing Retin-A & AHA (increases the cell turnover rate and shorten the lifespan of your brow permanent makeup). Microshading lasts 2-4 years as it is more saturated than microblading but this varies from person to person. Some factors in healing and touch ups depend on: skin type, daily routines, lifestyle, pigment colour, sun exposure, and more.
-
Does the procedure hurt?It is my duty to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Prior to beginning the procedure, a topical numbing agent is applied to the area to minimize discomfort. A liquid/gel anaesthetic is applied during the procedure as well to maintain your comfort. Some clients may feel slight discomfort but it is relatively pain free for the most part.
-
What should I do to prepare for my eyebrow permanent makeup appointment?⁃ For your consultation, bring reference photos of your ideal colour and shape. ⁃ You may fill in your brows as you normally would so your permanent makeup artist can consider the shape you desire. ⁃ Please refrain from getting your eyebrows shaped, or tinted at least 3 days before your appointment. ⁃ If you have been on Accutane, you must wait at least 1 year before considering microblading. ⁃ Retinol use needs to be stopped 2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoid for 2 weeks after your appointment. ⁃ If you get Botox done, please have it done no later than 2 weeks before your appointment to ensure brows are as symmetrical as possible. ⁃ Avoid chemical peels for at least 4 weeks before your permanent makeup appointment. ⁃ Avoid direct exposure to the sun and any tanning for 2 weeks before and after your procedure. Do not come to your appointment with a sunburn and please contact us 48 hours prior to reschedule. ⁃ Do not consume any alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E or any blood thinners 24 hours prior to your appointment.
-
What is the aftercare for permanent makeup on the brows?Within a couple of hours following your appointment, you will experience lymph drainage (clear fluid that resembles sweat coming from your tattooed area). You will receive cotton pads in your aftercare kit to dab your brows prior to cleaning the affected area. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattooed area. Week 1: Keep the tattooed area clean by rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry with a paper towel 3 times a day, then apply a thin layer of the aftercare balm provided and apply using a cotton swab. Week 2: Continue to clean your eyebrows with lukewarm water twice a day for the 2nd week. Do not apply the aftercare balm during week 2. You may shower or bathe normally but do not use any soaps or cleansers on the tattooed area for the first week, this can destabilize the pigments bonding in the dermis layer of your skin. Attempt to not take long and hot showers as this creates steam. Do not soak your face in a bathtub or allow the shower to spray directly on the tattooed area for 2 weeks. Do not pick or scratch at the dry skin or flaky/scabbing area, please allow the skin to fall naturally. Picking causes premature loss of pigment and can cause discolouration. PLEASE NOTE: once the flakes have fallen off, a new/shiny layer of skin will cover the hair strokes and will appear as though the eyebrow tattoo is gone. Within 1-2 weeks, the tattooed area will reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates. Avoid working out for 1 week following your appointment. Light exercising is allowed but you MUST clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water and pat dry as soon as you are done exercising. Avoid sun exposure for 14 days after your appointment. If you are exposed to the sun, you must wear a hat in order to cover the eyebrow area. Do not apply makeup or skincare products to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Chemicals of any kind can interfere with the healing and colour of your tattoo. No swimming, jacuzzis, saunas, and etc for 2 weeks. Avoid spicy foods, smoking, or consuming alcohol as it slows down your healing process. Try your best to avoid sleeping positions that rub the tattooed area. After the 2 week mark, apply sunscreen to the eyebrow area to preserve your permanent makeup eyebrows.
-
What does the healing process look like after my appointment?Directly after your procedure, the area will appear darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined. This will last for about 3-4 days. Do not panic!! This is normal. Swelling and redness is minimal and normal for most clients, and will disappear within 24-48 hours. The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, where you will see the true results and colour of your permanent makeup. During this time, your eyebrows will soften and lighten but be patient during this time. If you think you have lost too much colour as your skin is still regenerating itself, wait at least 6 weeks and it is only around the 6 week mark that your touch-up/any adjustments can be made. Please keep in mind that final results cannot be guaranteed as each skin type is unique and holds pigment differently. Healed results vary with each individual client. Additional sessions may be required for optimal results.

-

-

How often can I schedule a lash lift? After a minimum of 4 weeks or after they have returned to their natural state, you can schedule another lash lift.

-
What is the aftercare for my brow lamination?
